In my art I explore the relationships between humans and nature. I emphasize such contemporary problems as our energy policies, pollution, the destruction of species and habitats, and urban decay. My latest works also explore the way in which psychology and social conditions influence peoples’ perception of these issues.

Many of my images are long, horizontal compositions. I chose this format for a number of reasons: to undermine the hints of hierarchies associated with vertical canvases; to step away from the more traditional, more square-like rectangular canvas of Western art; and to offer a more “natural” way of seeing the world.

Visually, there is tension and uneasiness in my work, a sign that everything is not “okay”. This stems from my belief that there needs to be a critical outlook in art and life. I encourage the viewer to question the image, the meaning of what they see, and by extension—their lifestyle.
